ToolsNotToys: Blog Post #12 - Volatus Drones

Every day, drones are used to make people’s lives easier. They have a number of applications across dozens of industries, and are used to make tasks more time efficient, financially efficient, and in some cases, to save lives. Drone’s have the capability to change how we work for the better. To put it simply - drones are tools, not toys.

Community acceptance is arguably the greatest challenge in helping the drone industry soar.

So how can we continue to change perspectives from “scary airborne privacy-invading robots” to essential tools for society?

That’s why U.K. native, Richard Nichols created a global awards program called Airwards, showcasing instances of drones making a positive impact in the world.

The program focuses on the “what-where-why” model in relation to what different facets of technology are used, the industry being affected and how it’s giving back to the community.

Airwards submissions work mostly through self-nomination or a People’s Choice category where any person or company can be nominated. Make sure to get your submissions in by March 12th!

Judges will be hand-selected, independent experts from around the globe and have until early May to make their selections. By recognizing the inspiring work of others and how they couldn’t be achieved without drones, we can continue to positively shift the perspective on drones.

We can all work together to take this industry to new heights! #ToolsNotToys
