Skipper NDT Argos - Tailor Made High Precision Magnetic Measurement Payload for Below Ground Asset Locating, Mapping, and Assessment
Argos is the core of the Skipper NDT technology allowing the capture of high precision magnetic data. The Argos payload is compatible with aerial, terrestrial, and maritime platforms, allowing flexible integration across various mission profiles.
Sensors are enclosed in a carbon fiber frame to remain lightweight, including:
- 4 Fluxgate Magnetometers
- High Precision IMU
- Radar Altimeter
- Custom Made Datalogger
The combination of these instruments, coupled with Skipper NDT proprietary algorithms, allows for the creation of high precision digital twins of buried infrastructures.

Field Applications
-
Water Crossing: Pipeline geospatial positioning where pipelines cross waterways, such as rivers, lakes, and canals, is crucial for energy operators, especially if the water is used as a source of drinking water. Monitoring pipeline movements in these situations is proactive in preventing pipeline failure and water contamination.
-
Bending Strain Analysis (BSA): Geohazard events have the potential to impact buried infrastructure, triggering failures with catastrophic consequences. Rapidly and accurately assessing a pipeline mechanical condition following such an event is critical.
-
Decommissioned Sites and Abandoned Wells: Millions of decommissioned and abandoned oil and gas wells, alongside thousands of miles of decommissioned and abandoned pipelines need to be mapped. In the absence of reliable records, the task of identifying these assets remains challenging.
-
DOC Assessment: Pipeline depth of cover is the first line of defense against third-party interference. Monitoring DOC is a critical component of pipeline integrity programs. This proactive measure helps pipeline operators ensure the safety, reliability, and sustainability of their infrastructure.
