The Freefly LR1 Payload is designed for high-resolution mapping and imaging missions with the Freefly Astro. Designed and assembled in the USA, the payload is NDAA compliant and DIU Blue approved.
The LR1 mounts to Astro using the Freefly Smart Dovetail system and includes a Freefly gimbal pre-installed with a 61MP Sony ILX-LR1 camera and Sigma 24mm mapping lens. The Smart Dovetail connection provides power and data communication between the camera and the ground station controller or LTE network, supporting camera settings, shutter control, gimbal tilt, and image preview. A USB drive is included to capture geo-tagged JPG images. The payload is adjustable and expandable, supporting different lenses for different applications and providing expansion ports for add-on cameras, sensors, and power output.

Important Notes:
- The LR1 Payload is tuned to work best on Astro or Astro Max with the Astro Isolator.
- An Astro Isolator is required to mount the payload to an Astro that does not already have one.
- The LR1 Payload is not available without the camera and lens and is not intended to be disassembled for use of the camera separately.
- The payload is optimized for mapping and inspection using JPG images.
- RAW photos can be enabled, but RAW files save directly to the camera SD card without location data.
